For the past 7 days, I joined a group of Aussies from The Cardoner Project on a trek through the Himalayas. The trip was led by Fr. David Braithwaite as an experience to immerse recent high school graduates from Sydney, Australia in a world different from their own. I was very fortunate to have joined them on this exciting journey.
This past week reminded me of the Jesuit retreat feel of Boston College with the daily examen and prayer. We meditated on questions that brought us closer to ourselves and found joy in interacting with overly-cheery school children from the village of Tipling. Aside from the snowy descent from 3,850 meters and my lack of having any rain-gear, we conquered a mountain. All I am thinking about now is "I need a shower" and "what's next?" I'll let the video speak for itself.
